PERFORMANCES

The movement material for these performances was entirely improvised. It was filmed in 2019 in Halle (Saale). I used a tripod, ceiling light bulbs, 3 light sources on the floor, a black background, a table and a stool. The videos were not edited and I did not use audio, which gave the work notes of rawness, precariousness and fragility.

In "à Table" I was interested in investigating forms and dynamics in the physicality of my relationship with the table, in which I focused on rhythm and flow, sometimes with a peripherical and sometimes a direct approach to movement.

In "The Light Bulbs" I was interested in integrating a narrative into the improvisation and I knew I would somehow relate to the light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. The idea of a "storytelling" was entirely constructed upon momentary impulses that gained space and action throughout the improvisation.

The "Video Experiment" is a playful dance. I play with possibilities of body composition that arise in the course of the improvisation. I did not previously set the quality of movement, but the moment decided by itself to insist on a "stop-and-go" dynamic, ornamented by certain accents at the beginning of the phrase. There is a factor of limitation: the space. Next to me a stool, in the background the black panel, above a tangle of light bulbs, in front the limits of the frame.
